Forgive and Forget, (Is this fantasy or reality)?
Sometimes saying OK to an "I am sorry" statement is hard to do. Because you tend to feel that such behaivour is inbuilt in the person and may continue to show up in different ways and different times.
However, who amongst us is without sin? Let him cast the first stone. This was the statement made by our Saviour when a lady was brought fought by a sect amongst the jews for condemnation after participating in adultery. Funny as it may seem, there was no mention of the man, thereby citing their bias. This bias was already a shortcoming on their own end. Not to mention their Adamic nature which predisposed them to sin and condemnation too.
Though they had placed their trust on atonement via animal sacrifice. They ignored or were in other words, oblivious to the seriousness of their depravity and hence were in need of a Saviour and not just mere animal sacrifices. More also, a lack of understanding of how depraved they were caused them to think too highly of themselves.
Like the Pharisees and the Saducees we are also guilty of thinking too highly of ourselves hence we elevate ourselves to a league higher than that of our counterpart. Thus neglecting the fact that we are equally guilty.
In as much as this is not a call to promote indiscipline or a call to promote our individual excesses, it is an awareness that we ought not to venture into putting ourselves in the shoes of others for we already are in the shoes of others.
And as a supplement or a remedy, we are charged to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. For no one is without sin.
Hence we must learn to forgive and Forget. Meaning that, we should stop holding to the past, we should learn to exalt and correct one another in love. And lastly, we should all unlearn the habit of living with malice and strife.
